The Abolition of ICE?
Have you been hearing about "abolishing" ICE and immigration detention or perhaps you've heard advocates talk about "abolishing" the police? Check out this beautifully illustrated online guide by Abolition: A Journal of Insurgent Politics which describe why advocates are calling for abolition of harmful systems.

As you know, we focus on paying as many bonds as we can, our fund balance is currently at under $2,500. Since a minimum ICE/Immigration Court bond is $1,500, this means we can only afford to help one person with a minimum bond at this time. But you can help change that!
Illinois just ended ICE detention. What happened to the people detained here?
Check out Injustice Watch article on ICE leaving IL last week and what that meant for the folks detained there.
ICE out of McHenry and Kankakee, SOON.
ICE has less and less time to #GetOUT of McHenry County and Kankakee County as we continue to push #ReleaseNOTtransfers we have been able to post a couple of bonds in the last few weeks as well. We ask you to please consider donating today.

COVID in the Midwest ICE Facilities
With Omicron continuing to dominate the news cycle, we wanted to share what that looks like in ICE detention. There are currently 499 positive COVID cases in ICE detention as of yesterday - including 26 cases in our area (IL: 16 at McHenry Co., WI: 6 at Dodge Co., KY: 1 at Boone Co., and IN: 3 at Clay Co).
Lawsuit for Clay Co.
With the anticipation of ICE detention ending in IL, there is the possible expansion of Clay Co. jail in Indiana we recently spoke about (For folks in WI, IL, IN, and KY). Mariposa Legal filed a lawsuit on behalf of Communities Not Cages Coalition led by Cosecha Indiana against the Clay County Commissioners, Clay County Council, and Clay County Sheriff's Department for violating the Open Door Law and the Access to Public Records Act.
