Support for a Hearing to Address Human Rights Violations Endemic to Immigration Detention in the U.S.

On December 3, 2023, Sarah Paoletti (Penn Carey Law, Transnational Legal Clinic), Denise Gilman (Texas Law Immigration Clinic), and Azadeh Shahshahani (Project South), submitted the below letter to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights requesting a hearing on Immigration Detention in the U.S.

Due to the continued expansion of detention, recent deaths in ICE custody, and proposed new detention measures, they feel that it is urgent that the Commission intervene. On December 28, 2023 we joined over 25 organizations in support of a hearing on this issue during the 189th period of sessions between February 26 and March 1, 2024.
